OK this machine popped up here locally on eBay.
Tascam 58 Reel to Reel 8 Track half inch Tape Recorder | eBay
I have checked it out, everything is as described... good condition heads and the transport works.
Now, the deck has no reaction to the input signal.... the meters don't move probably nothing is being recorded to tape because when you play the tape back you get nothing.
What faults could cause this? Would like to know so I can assess the possible cost and difficulty in repairing this problem.
I do have a very good local tascam technician that regularly services and repairs these decks so can get them to fix it, but if it is a 'simple fix' I could do it myself.
