I'm working with a PC for composing music. Just upgraded to Cubase SX 2.1. PC specs: P4 2.4Ghz, 512MB RAM. I had an M-Audio Omni Studio interface which was fried a few days ago and I'm looking for a replacement.
I'm composing heavy metal music. So I'll be recording guitars, bass and vocals. Drums are being done using Battery and a few samples. I also write some symphonic stuff when I have an inspiration using MIDI.
So what I need is something that will record audio (audio quality must be good), has a few in/outs, and will do MIDI.
Budget up to $800
Also can you tell me some really good drum samples for heavy metal?
I don't know much when it comes to hardware so I have a few questions.
Will it be a good idea if I get a mixer console?
How do you get audio only hardware and a MIDI controller synchronised? Would it be a better idea of going this way instead of getting something that does both?
