Newbie having problems with the Audiophile 2496...

Hi all,
I don't think it's so much the sound card, as it is my lack of experience.
I've been able to get a demo I recorded in Cakewalk to come through (digital audio)as well as the ususal windows sounds, but I can't hear any CD's or music to my video games.
If this is covered in a previous post, I apologize, I just couldn't find this specific thread.
How many places do I have to check to use sound card?
This is an upgrade from a Sound Blaster Audio PCI 64V (which worked fine for Home Studio 8, but not for Home Studio 2002, hence the 2496)
Thanks to all in advance,
Ron

What version of Windows are you using? You should have the option under Settings->Control Panel->Multimedia as to what to use for your Windows and CD sound. It's a little different depending on versions, but it's under "Preferred Devices".

I'm using the WaveOut 1/2 Delta-AP as my preferred playback and Mon.mixer Delta-AP as my preferred recording device.
Can't seem to get anything on my meters while trying to record with this sound card.
Thanks,
Ron

Could I be having an IRQ issue? How would I check this?
My SC came with a drivers CD and another CD with stuff on it (Express and Metro SE) and another CD with GigaSampler LE. What are these?
Thanks in advance,
Ron
