New Studio - Inadequate mic locker

Guys -

I've been traveling since Wed am so I haven't been able to checkout the feedback to my question. I must say.. the BBS rocks! Thanks for all the feedback.

I've read the replies, checked out prices/specs at various sites, and talked to other folks while traveling and here's what I've determined thus far:

1. Buy Shure KSM32, Rode NTK or AT C4000B - $500
2. Unsure about condensers (ie: MXL 603 vs AT3031)
3. No feedback on drum mics needed
4. Need/want 8 add'l mic pres so I can start tracking drum kits..

BradD - I looked up Sytek and found the MPX-4Aii- Four Channel Microphone Preamplifier $ 1680.00. Couldn't find the 8 CH unit, but it seems out of my price range considering the Digimax is $1200-1300.

I was always under the impression that the Sytek was available for around $800. At least it used to be... maybe they recently raised their prices?

Nope. $800 is the going rate. I just don't think they've updated their web site in a while.
