I am planning on getting a usb or firewire soundcard for a mac laptop I will buy. Any advice?. Id like to spend less than 500 dollars. As for audio, I only record one track at a time. I do all the midi stuff on reason 2.5, which involves quite a lot of tracks. Id like to be able to monitor on headphones as well as through regular monitors. Something that comes with a decent multitracking program for free would be cool too. Preferably stuff that works with OS X as well. Im not sure whether the newest laptops (I havent bought it yet) have USB 1.0 or 2...
