New song written tonight vocals too "big"

I'm guessing vocal technique would go a long ways. It sounds like your vocalist is really belting out all the notes. If he relaxed a bit and sang softer it would sound less big.
 
I didn't think the problem was real bad. But you might try removing some presence. Do a real small cut in the vocal. Like a half-db, centered at maybe 5K and about two octaves wide. Pay close attention to making the vocals sounding too muffled, and adjust where necessary. Be real careful, it'd be easy to do more harm than good.

Then just give up and leave it the way it is. :D
 
He posted it about 3 months ago. Very possible he took it down since then.
