Hi!

Do you think it is risky buying "new" sealed Quantegy 456 tape as oppose to SM911 the supposed equivalent?

Im concerned that as the Quantegy 456 went out of production it may havr been on the shelf a while and may begin to shed easily?

:guitar:

Thanks!

I think sealed NOS Quantegy 456 would be fine as long as it's date coded 1995 or later. The sealed inner bag should have resisted any moisture migration during storage.
:spank::eek:;)

I agree, Quantegy 456 will be fine and I would prefer it to RMGI SM911. Tape does not age like bread or bologna. That is, there is no meaning to the term, "Fresh Tape" as some sales people use it. 20-year-old unused tape is no different than 2-week-old unused tape. They are both new. I have 40+ year-old tape that is as good as new.
