S8-N

..|.. Part-time Antichrist ..|..
Welp, heres my first MP3 in almost a year. The first one mixed down on The Larsonist666. These tracks were recorded roughly a year ago. I had them mixed down lacking only 2 tracks, when I discovered that my computer couldnt pull the extra 2 tracks... Then I took 6 months or so to build this computer and I remixed the whole thing. All in all I spent way too much time on this song and now I never want to hear it again.
An interesting side note: The song is called "The Devil Beer" and It just so happens that I fell off the wagon right after mixing it down.
Cheers!

The devil Beer

Hello Darkness, my old friend...

Damn Clayton, that song made me want to fall off the wagon too - but I can't.

Dug the tune and especially liked the Nicholas Cage thingie in the middle. The screams that followed that gave me the creeps. Liked the mix a lot - I would like to be able to read the lyrics along with it - couldn't make some of them out, but that wasn't a mix problem, I am sure it is because of what I am listening with.

Your drummer is wicked.

Nice job, although a dark subject matter - can't wait to hear a love song from you.

Brad

Hey, the song sounds great...i'm not familiar w/ your gear though, could you post some more about what you used to record it? thanks.

Cool stuff. Excellent drumming as usual. Bit of buzzing at the start, don't know if that was intentional or not. Like to hear more panning on the guitars, or maybe doubled. Nice work.

drummer not from any world but his own.....he's that good, as usual....great mix from super computer.....vocals came over better to my ears, not buried, and the timbre of your voice showed....lyric sheet would be cool because old creeps like me dig poetry in music....spoken part very effective and screams were perfectly situated.....disgruntled and baby jesus still hold up but this one's different somehow in a pleasing way.....gibs

Best damn Mofocult song Ive heard yet...the mix/production was somewhat tastier than the others....the panned vocal part sounded particularly evil....imagine that.....

I like this tune like most of your stuff. My only gripe was this weird annoying clicking in the right channel that didn't seem to be related to the song at all. And since I'm a fan of your lyrics- a lyric sheet would be cool.

Weird clicking? Hmmmm... There are some stick clicks at the very beginning behind the bass intro that shouldnt be there but I didnt think to take them out.
That high pitched scream near the end started out as a joke (Todd doing an impression of Tom Araya's scream at the beginning of Angel of Death) and we started doing it live and it kinda grew on me. Todd does that falsetto scream ala Judas Preist to a T. If this was the 80's, he would probably be singing in a band right now... but alas, that sort of thing went out of style (thank dog) and gruff lung abusers like myself became the trend.
I am looking forward to doing some NEW stuff (The Devil Beer is actually a few years old) and I will. Soon.
Thanks for the kind words... I dont get much payback in this line of work.

Oh yeah, Broken:
I recorded through a WAVE 8*24 using Vegas pro and Cool edit pro. Used various mid-priced microphones to record 8 tracks of live drums... Recorded guitar and bass through a POD... recorded vocals with a Rode NT-1.
Bottom of the line stuff I am using here.

It's about fucking time.

This is a good tune. I agree that the vocals here stand out more than on some of your other stuff. Good lyrics.

I like the guitar sound of baby jesus a little better, but I like the natural drum sound of this devil beer tune better. It sounds similar to mangled in fact...or what I remember of that song. Big natural drums. The clicking in the left channel sounds to me like the kick hammer...didn't notice it too much though.

This one is also a little quieter than some of your other stuff too I'm noticing.

Dig the leaving las vegas clip.

I like the changes at around 2:17. And todd's fast kick sounds cool during the slower section that follows.

MORE!

3 thumbs "Down"

The dude playing the skins in this band is a bad mofo. The guitar & bass player is of the same. Killer shit, and that's a pod eh? Wished i could hear the vocals just a little better, that would make it for me. Overall this is some wicked shit with some killer ass riffs..damn good mix to boot!

This type of music is really not my favorite, but you guys do it well.

Sounds like a very good mix. Bow down to your drummer, he's great.

S8-N, how do you feel when you play this music?

It seems so different to me.

GT

How do I feel when playing this music??? Thats an interesting question. I dont know, really. I feel good I guess.

The words to the song are now up on MP3.com. Since I am so unintelligable.

Does anyone else have trouble d/l'ing this??? I've tried about 5 times over the last week... and every time it doesn't work

Coop maybe u have one of those Christian computers that is spending all its time keeping u from downloading this tune while all its little kiddies computers are surfin porn......

Well I certainly did have to turn to the darkside to actually get this one... I could only get it from a Netscape browser!!!

Cool track. I kinda agree with Emeric that some more wider panning on the guitars would make it sound fuller for the most part... I think it'd sound cool because on the verse riff you'd have that muted part of the riff to one side and then the second guitar that plays the chords join in on the other side... if these parts were seperated wider in the stereo field I think it'd sound cool.

Did you have to make any tweaks to the vocals using the NT1?? They sound really good and I'm starting to think it's a really good mic for throaty/growly vocals because I just recorded a song with a guy with a similar, if not growlier, vocals and I didn't really have to do much to the raw vocal tracks to make them sound good in the mix.

Cool hommage to Angel of Death too ;)
