Hiya,

I'm currently using an old Tascam DP-1 to do my recordings.
And:
Zoom PS-2 as preamp/effect unit. Laugh, but I love it. :)
Baby Marshall & Crate amps. Tons of usage. Preamp, amp, mic'd.
Yamaha YPT Keys. Cheap & useful.
Digitech Stomper MultiUnit.
Strat & Ibanez 5 string. Both tweaked.
Shure SM58. One of the older good ones. I use it for everything mic'd.

I like the simplicity; I'm not trying to make gold records, just playing rock star at home.

Thinking of getting into DAW. Not made of $$$. Here's my idea:

Going to buy an electric drum kit. Alesis DM6 with real hi-hats & decent kick pedal.

Thinking of Getting a Zoom R16 and using Reaper as DAW. I've read some posts, and this combo seems to work.

Really thinking DAW over my Tas DP-1 because of the drums. Will still use the DP-1 some, I think.

Just looking for feedback, opinions, or ideas.

Thanks.

Do it. Reaper trial is free so if you don't like it go back to what you have.

Another mic might be a good idea too. SM58 is good for some things, but you'll probably get better vocals with an LDC or something. But, if you're happy with the vocals and guitar sounds the SM58 gives you then stick with it.

I don't know much about the Zoom R16. I like simple interfaces, and have never had the desire to try one with the faders. Search around, see what others say about it.
