Need Simple Hand Recorder

Have a friend who drives a truck during the week. He wants to record song ideas while on the road. He need something that is low in cost, small and reasonable in capability to record song ideas while driving.

Any ideas?

His best option then is probably one of those portable boom box type radio/tape/cd players. A lot of them come with one or 2 built in condensor mics and can be powered off the cigarette lighter

I'll second that. A digital recorder will avoid the need for tapes and they can be found reasonably cheap with decent recording length.
