Need mics

LDC for Vocals plus SDC for instruments

Caveat emptor:

The MXL 990 is a side address small diameter condenser mic (SDC),
in spite of some erroneous marketing verbiage stating it is an LDC.

One genuine Large Diameter Condenser mic to consider is the
MXL 2003a, or cr24 (same mic in different "clothes").

They come bundled with a Small Diameter Condenser as well,
which is often called an "instrument mic".

I would normally recommend the MXL 9090, which works well for both
vocals and instruments, because it has two capsules, a "warm" one
(in this setting the 9090 is identical the the popular v67g), and a
"bright" option. Both work fine for either vocal or instrument duties.
However, the 9090 is getting hard to find, and I have no idea where
to look, "on your side of the pond".

Ok so large for vox small for instruments. Thats some pretty kl advise. Would it not be better for me to get a more expensive mic than whats been recommended? i mean i got £150, about $250. Whcih two or one mic of any brand would be best in this price range?
