Need help with soundfonts and midi.

Basically i have an electronic kit with a DM5. I would like to use the midi out of the DM5 to trigger soundfonts of a better quality.
Ok so here's the question.

First of all, how do i use soundfonts with the m-audio 2496 card?

Im runnin sonar 5 producer, im not sure on how to route soundfonts on there either, so do i need another program to run alongside with the soundfonts loaded into it? if so what would be my best bet?
 
You need a softsynth that can read Sound Font files, like VSampler. (Doesn't SONAR 5 Producer come with something? I think it used to have a lite version of VSampler back at version 1 or 2...)
