Need help with an instrumental (KEY CHANGE)

Ive got an instrumental I want to use to sing too, but the instrumental key is too high...

How would I use Cubase 5 to change the key of that.. ?

Im aware there are software out there which would tackle this easy such as KeyRite...
But id rather not spend 50 pounds on that...

I tried using the pitch correction insert on it, but that just makes the audio sound distorted i think.


With Cubase this is surely a problem which could be tackled easily ?

It depends on how much you want to change the key. Anything more than 5 semitones and IMO it sounds really mediocre.

Anyhow I assume it's just a stereo audio track.

Select said audio track, go to audio/process/pitch shift.

Set how much you want to pitch it down in semitones. Play around with the algorithms to see what gets you the best results.
