need help connecting a "studio channel" to an interface!

Good evening, everyone, and happy holidays and new year!

Just bought myself a Presonus Studio Channel, and so far, I love it.

Rest of set-up:
Ableton Live on Apple Macbook pro 10.6x

Mackie Onyx 400F

I'm trying to connect the Studio Channel in such a way that I can route a raw vocal track, per se, OUT of the Mackie Onyx 400F, IN to the Studio Channel to apply some compression and EQ, and back IN to the software to be recorded as the "printed" vocal.

Question: what is the proper hook-up? I went out of Outputs 7+8 into the Studio Channel, and back in the mixer, but I seemed to get some resophonic tube rattle or some weird "bias" sound...any thoughts? hopefully I'm just hooking it up wrong.

thanks everyone!

The printed track sounds like that or the monitored mix sounds like that?

Send the output of the FX'd vocal track to a different input on the Mackie for monitoring. Sounds like you have a feedback loop.

Thanks for the reply, the monitored mix. It definitely sounds like a feedback loop to me too, when I turned one of the gains up, my signal got louder exponentially.

So just to clarify...

instead of OUT(7+8)>StudioChannel>IN Onyx Line in 3,

Go OUT(7+8)>SC>IN Onyx...any different input?

Now when I take the monitor off, I still get this weird tube-like ringing, doesn't sound clear like it should

record using the studio channel. run an XLR to TRS cable from studio ch out into a line input on back of mackie.

thanks man, but I'm not trying to do that. I'm trying to hook it up as a "send" effect...After I have a already recorded vocal, Run the vocal out of Ableton into the Studio Channel and back into my software to record and use it as a Compressor and EQ...can this be done?
