need an equal to or better then AKG C3000

I know of no mic that is equal to the AKG C3000.

(There are however, many other mics that I feel may be better for vocals.)

Take a listen to any of these:

Marshall MXLV69M, Shure KSM32, Marshall MXLV67 or V77, Shure SM-7, Beyer M260, Audio Technica 4050 or 4060, Audio Technica 4033, Studio Projects C1 or C3, Rode NTK, Studio Projects B1 or B3, Beyer Soundstar, Sennheiser MD441, or the Beyer M88.

They don't quite capture the true ...uh, "essence" of a C3000 - nothing does
(fortunately).

It sure seems to try hard enough, though. I'm willing to give it an "A" for effort.

Harvey, what's your opinion on ADK mics?
specefiacally the A-51 V?

I'm glad I got rid of my C3000's for €200 each and those were the original black ones.

I think the C2000 is better, Richie likes them very much.

The SP B1 is better than the C3000 for less than 1/3 of the price.

I've never heard an ADK.

I talked to Larry V. at the NAMM show this year about me possibly buying an ADK Vienna or Hamburg, but he's been too busy to follow up, and so have I.

They shouldn't have jumped on you that much, it was a fair question. C3000 is low on the popularity list for vocals, and it is easy to do better. Vocal mics are tough because none of them works for all singers, or even a majority. Harvey listed some good ones. Here are my best bets:
Dirt cheap- Studio Projects B-1, Shure SM58, Marshall MXL V67, Oktava MK319
Still pretty cheap (under $200) AKG C2000B, CAD M-179
Mid Priced ($500 or less) Shure SM7B, Rode NTK, Studio Prijects C-3, T-3, B.L.U.E. Baby Bottle, Audio-Technica AT4033, 4044
Dirt cheap sleeper- AKG D320 series(a-b-c). You can often find these for $50 or less on ebay, and are a wicked 1980's era stage dynamic that rocks.

Every one of those mics is worth what you pay for it, and good on some vocalist..-Richie
