Need a VO/Broadcast Mic less sensitive than my Condenser....Any thought?

Hey all -

I'm looking to find a low-cost mic for my studio which is less 'sensitive' to room acoustics and background noise than my current condenser (Rode NT1a).

The condenser is fine in my studio, but there are occasions when I have to record elsewhere, and I'm getting problems with room acoustics.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a lower-budget mic that would help out? Phantom-powered is fine. It's for use only as a voice-over mic, no music. Something very directional would work.

I wonder whether the Shure SM7 would help: it's at the very top of my budget, but I could probably do it......any lower-cost options also welcome though!!

Thanks

There is a REASON that the Shure SM-7, EV RE-20 and MD-421
have been the standard radio/vo mics for the past 40 years....

Yup, I hear that!! So.....basically the SM7 etc would help me over the condenser?

The only problem I once had with an SM7 was getting enough gain on it.....maybe the RE20 would be easier that way?

Thanks!
