...thought this would be interesting to some...im sure that many will still prefer the "old school" way no matter what but it would be interesting none the less to see what kind of results this would get soundwise...

It is a good idea but whether they will sound any good or natural is another matter. Its extreme close miking!! Maybe too close as they are inside the drums, which means no room ambience at all. But also means no spill at all. Great.
An engineer was saying they sound real good but you might not be able to get a snare rattle sound from them. But just mic at the bottom fo the snare aswell as the pickup inside the snare and this should also eliminate most Hi-hat bleed into snare channel!!! YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
