Let the long dead recognize me
For behind me I see twenty twenty
Yet I can’t see why I am so angry
And I am blind to what my future brings me

A long dry road brings a souls winter
In the eyes of this carcass once a splendor
And the sun takes the moisture from the rain
The tires roll by again and again

I am roadkill, I am roadkill the sun bakes my snout

I have crossed this road many times before
For this armadillo that I so adored
But on the day that I came, I can’t explain
How this fate should become me what a pain

I was alive paralyzed for a day
But no one helped nobody came
To save me from this lonely fate
That a varmint does dread day by day
