I've just finished recording a cover of "Grace" by U2. I've been meaning to do some stripped down acoustic-y type stuff, so here it is.. I love this song.

Link to the actual file on the server:

Details:

Guitar: Takamine FD-360sc - mic'd through a pair of MXL 603s's - also direct in, both signals panned and mixed

Vox: Studio Projects C1

Interface: Presonus FirePod

Software: Logic Pro

Thanks for listening!

The vocal is buried in the beginning and it's hard to make out what you are singing.

Some eqing of the low mids on the guitar might help out there.

This is good. The guitar is a bit bright for my taste, but it sounds good.

The vocals tend to jump a bit on the louder parts. You have a nice voice. The C1 does a nice job. Sung with emotion...

Not sure I like the original very much, but good job!

I think the acoustic sounds much better in the second file.

My first impression on the first mix was "wow that guitar is thin and bright sounding"

I still think the whole mix could use a little more warmth.
Guitar is still a little thin.

What kind/size strings do you use?

The guitar sounds like really light gauge strings (10/11s?) extra fresh out of the pack.
lol.

P.S. your voice is great....
really great.

Strings are 12's - elixir's. They were fresh out of the pack, though. I'll see if I can't warm it up a bit, yet.

Thanks for listening, and thanks for the compliment!
