i got a question

i started recording on a mxl 990
it had very pernounced lows
it made my voce sound like i got up in the morning and started recording
it almost didn't sound like me sometimes
but i lacked any warmth, too boomy
but i liked it

then i lost that mic,
then bought a cheap akg perception
that was too bright,,my voice was chipmunked
i use the bluetube dp pre
with the same settings on both
same program,same interface
two nice booths

my?

are akg mics just bright or are the cheap ones just like that

are mxl mics known for having a lower sounding freq.
and what makes a mic or what mics have a clear tone in all freqs.

Most cheap mics are like that.
Most mics have their own sound characteristics.
You won't find a mic that covers all the bases although there are some that can cover many bases and do it well.
Save your money and don't spend less than $299 on your next mic if possible.
Try a BLUE Bluebird at $299 or sE SE2200A for $299 or a CAD M9 at $299.
In fact, try a bunch of mics!
The Bluebird may be more of an all-rounder in that price realm.
Some will disagree with me and for good reason as opinions vary on microphones as much as microphones vary on the sound they re-create.
