Mxl 990/991

I recently bought this MXL 990/991 package for 50 bux at guitar center i dont have much money so i had to buy these.. i was planning on using it for over heads has anyone used them and how did they sound
 
I have the 990 and I love it, but then again I have only done 3 songs on it so far. Much, much better than the shure mic was using before.

I just finished up recording five song demo for a band called the colony.
i used two 990's as overheads in x-y pattern and i was pleasently surprised,
sounded very natural. for such a cheap set of mikes a gotta say it sounded
great
 
I have used the 991s on acoustic guitar and mandolin when I was in a hurry to get something down and didn't want to change setups. Granted I was using a pre but they still sounded OK. A little bright but I wa able to eq them to where they were very usable. ;)
 
I bought a bunch of stuff from GC and through that pack in for free for me, but I only like the 990,it works pretty good one some vocals. I'm not a fan of the 991, though.
