Multiband Limiter vs Compressor

I have a TC Electronics multiband compressor (the Triple C). I use it to push down the bottom end kinda like bass roll-off, enhance the mids, then tweak the highs on voice (spoken word). I was wondering if the Aphex Dominator would be able to perform a similar function, or are multiband compressors and multiband limiters two completely different animals?

One limits. The other compresses. The DII is an *analog* brick-wall type multiband limiter. No pushing this or pulling that (even though it has an amazingly useless set of LF & HF controls - handy for broadcast use no doubt). It stops a signal cold at a certain point and that's all it does.

And it does it remarkably well if you can get past some of the inherent noise of the unit - Mods are available.
