ok, i have this mixer. behringer eurorackmx24. is there any possible way to have each track on the board on a different track in cool edit pro. right now im just running a line out into my mic line on my soundcard.
the question is... are there any sound cards that would allow each seperate track on the mixer to go to a seperate track in cool edit pro? if so,which one/

first off, go from the soundcard to you line input, not mic input......

of course there are soundcards that will do that?...how much you wanna spend and exactly how many separate tracks do you want?

a Delta 101lt will get you 8 separate tracks for $329.....

For $600 you can get a full on Delta 1010 which has 8 analog ins/outs, 2 channels of SPDIF, MIDI in/out, and external wordclock capability. All of the connectors *and the converters* are in a self-powered rack-mountable breakout box. The analog jacks are balanced 1/4" TRS and are switchable between -10 and +4.

It's a good value for the price. I've got it and like it well enough. Another system that gets some notice here and there is the hoontech C-Port which has specs similar to the Delta 1010, but is about $200 cheaper.

Take a look at all of the following to get a feel for what's out there:

Slackmaster 2000

i dont know alot about this. here is exactly what i want to do.

using the behriger eurorack mx24

i want to be able to run everything through the board as a preamp then have each individual channel on the board be a individual channel in cool edit pro......

I don't have that mixer, but the idea would be to take an output from each channel to an input on one of the multi-input interfaces Slackmaster refers to in his post. Did you check ony of them out?

With one of those, as opposed to a single stereo input consumer sound card, you would be able to assign each track in CoolEdit to a seperate input on the interface and record it as an individual channel.

The budget you mention should net you a fine product.

What you want to do will cost a lot more than $600. A MOTU 24 I/O would do the computer ins and outs to a mixer. The mixer choice could be problematic too depending on if it's in line or a split monitor configuration. Here's the MOTU site.

thanks so much. im checking this stuff out now. I think my board may be a problem. if so Im going to just use it for live shows and order a new board for recording.

that motu confused the heck out of me.

all i need is a soundcard with about 14-24 inputs and anywhere from 4-8 outputs would be suitable. or even a single output.
do they make those under 600?

ok, i took some time into this. and it seems as though i need the behringer mx328a which has 24 inputs and 8 assignable subgroups with individual outputs meaning 8 outputs for 3 channels each.

for the soundcard i think im gonna go with a delta 1010 PCI Digital system.

hows that sound?

im curious. what all would i need for the firewire setup?
