More headroom via reverb...

Is this a proper correlation, will a better reverb than my sonar reverb give be a more live presence and more space in my recordings. Where does quality begin in terms of reverb units and why could I not (supposing I could not) buy an EH Holy Grail Reverb and my mic or mixer thru it. How cheap can I be?

Hardware reverbs can often sound better than software plugins but it depends on what hardware and what plugin. The TC M300 is a nice unit for around $200. The Kurzweil Rumour is a pretty sweet box for around $600. There are all sorts of older effects units that are worth having also. The top names are TC Electronics, Eventide and Lexicon.

'Headroom' usually refers to the amount of level above unity and before distortion so it doesn't really apply to this.
