ok i have read enough posts about the annoying redundancy of certain questions.and i,certainly have asked my share.when i first learned about this site,i asked some basic qwuestions about computer based multi-tracking,and i am still plodding along ,slowly learning little by little, blah blah blah................................................

can some of y'all please give me your input on how you feel about mac(the latest, upgraded versions)for multi tracking?

i have been considering the power mac cube 4,or all this wonderful ,fantabulous stuff(used of course,i am not rich!!!)or the g3,anyone ??tell me ,is this the indusr=try standard?or am i being fed false information?

i have been looking at http://www.craigslist.com/sfo/sys/

and http://www.smalldog.com/ thanks for any input--------

Hey mojovoodoo
i wouldent go for the cube bad idea from what iv read its not good for DAW
i have a MAC G4 i think you should go for one of these or if you can find a G3 then that will work too
the New G4 dual processor is the SH*T for DAW type apps, when used with the right soft & hard combo LOGIC comes to mind check out the web site http://www.emagic.de many big time studios use the LOGIC soft & Pro tools Hard combo "just about everybody making the big bucks use this" of course this cost a dam lot so that might be a dream for ppl on a budget . so i went for Motu 1224 with logic wich so far is pretty much "flawless" but there is always isues with comp based multi tr.. http://www.motu.com
will a pc work YES is MAC better thats up to the USER
but check out how many pc related questions there are around concerning pc daw makes me think a lil hmm...
most big time ppl i can think of everything from britney (yuk) to nin and back do use MAC it makes me wonder how about you? well im lucky i already have a MAC and its the best thing i ever bought! good luck!!

Mac's are great for DAW and other media application, but a good PC can come pretty close. Especially since Mac has less standard software support (not mulit-tracking apps, plenty mac versions of those), and MUCH fewer hardware updates. IE, how many PC manufactureres are there? So many you can't count, Mac = 1. You can't get the latest processor speeds or such for a Mac. They are good for what they do, but so are PC's. I use a PIII 800 with 256 Megs of ram and run Logic Platinum. I can do like 15 tracks with tons of effects with no problem. Mac's aren't the only way to go. Also, that cube thing might look cool, but thats probably all it does good (sit there and look interesting), and that isn't the point of a computer.
