Mixing with headphones

I don't consider myself a newbie but I think my question is stupid so i placed it in here.

It is known that mixing with headphones is pretty much impossible since you wouldn't get the stereo image of it. My question to you guys (maybe a stupid one) is: Is it possible to mix with headphones if it's a mono track? Which headphones give the best flat response?
 
Headphones for editing, never for mixing. In my experience, I've never done a mix on headphones that's translated well. By the time you go back to fix it a few times, you lose all objectiveness and it becomes very difficult to fix, even on good monitors.
