Where's the automation button??? how do I do to turn on an effect on one part of the song only without having to put it to the entire track??

Mixing on Cubase VST32

Assuming its the same in VST32 as the newer versions (from memory it is), you wanna click the little + (plus) icon on the individual track to drop down the volume automation track. (dropping this further will reveal further usefull tracks for automation such as EQ bybass etc). Either that or record your mixing straight down using the record settings and the mixer window.

If you're in the mixer view, click the "W" on the channel (writes automation). After you've made your moves, click the W to turn it off and click on the "R" to read the automation.
