mixer connection question...

I bought a mackie DFX-12 mixer. i should have it this week..this is my first mixer purchase..

I have a single 1/8" in on my soundcard.

is there any difference in quality between the 2-main outs, 2-tape outs, 2-aux outs or 1-headphone out? to connect to the soundcard?

I have some adapter cables lying around for 2-RCA-to-1-1/8" and 1-1/4" to 1-1/8"..I'm just wondering if there is a need to get any more cables..

thanks..

The tape out is probably a better match to your sound card input, but it won't matter much until you get a better sound-card.

M-Audio's Delta Series come highly recommended.

Dave:) :) :)

i know lol...i know..i'm probably going to get an audiophile or a mia whenever i get over my case of the "lazyass"...

The insert uses a Stereo/balanced plug on the mackie that breaks out to two mono/unbalanced plugs for send and receive. Just use the send portion of the cable. You can also use a mono cable plugged halfway into the insert. The insert will give you a signal directly out of the preamp and bypass the EQ and fader circuitry.

Check the manual for details and a hookup diagram.
