I've been trying to find the appropriate mixer for recording the band I am in, but have narrowed it down to two. I'm going to be running it into my new apple laptop. I want the mixer to be primarily for recording, but I'm seeing the need for a powered mixer(to replace the old PA system)in the future. The question is can I use a powered mixer for recording? Will I be sacrificing sound? One of my choices is the Yamaha EMX2000. It is a powered mixer that has faders rather than knobs. The other option is the new Mackie EFX12. It may not be powered, but if it's more suitable for recording then I would get it. Also does anybody know of any website or stores with GREAT prices?
