Misused term of the day -- BITRATE

I see this all over.... people abusing the term bitrate by using it to refer the number of bits used in digital audio recording.

Let's set the record straight... if you're talking 8/16/24/nn-bit digital audio, this is known as bit depth or bit resolution, NOT bitrate....

Bitrate is a term used in compressed audio and video formats that denotes the number of bits transferred per second.

Good job Blue Bear! I guess we should all be more concerned with exactitude when it comes to recording. Of course, along with exactitude, I think the biggest victims on this forum are language, truth, objectivity, and diplomacy

My bitchrate seems to vary, although you probably can't tell from my posts in the Cave!
