This is going to be only a basic knowledge in relation to Home Recording and what could be expected in some of the 'Studios'...Differents mics., have specifics characteristics which are going to be good to reproduce,.high, middle, and low frequencies. You need to start by conditioning the place where you are going to do the recording,to eliminate overtones, vibrations, noises, etc. Then the proper tuning of the Instrument, taking care to use the proper mics., to obtain the specific frequencies. The proper setting of the parametric equalizer which is going to process the signals, knowledge of the software used for the processing of the sound,Sonar,CakeWalk,Cubase,ProTools,GigaStudio, etc.Good speakers for the reproduction of the sound, etc. The final process of the project required the technical skills and equipment for the mixing and mastering...A multiple choice for miking could be..For Drum-Kick..(AKG D112, - SENNHEISER E602,or E609, - SHURE SM57,PG81, - NEUMANN U87)...For SNARE-PERCUSSION..(AKG C418 - SENNHEISER E903, - SHURE SM57, - NEUMANN 127)..For OVERHEAD..(AKG C411,C416, - SENNHEISER ME105,ME104,ME102,- SHURE PG81, - NEUMANN TLM103)..Also Shure has a package set PGDMK4..All this in relation to budget,or availibility in the recording studios.Gerry Zaragemca

This subject has been covered a lot on this site. I suggest using the search function.
