MIDI through USB on windows XP using M-audio audiophile

Here's the problem:

i tried to use my keyboard to trigger the midi modules in reason using the M-audio (USB) audiophile, and that did not work. Problem is that, while the audio card driver can be set to the "asio audiophile USB..." under the reason audio preferences, when i go to the midi page, i get no other option than the "no midi" and the ports are grayed out (Can't trigger them), obviously reason does not detect any midi signal coming from the audiophile, what's going on?

i use a labtop with XP on it, i already read that sometimes the Midiman drivers give problems when using windows XP, any experiences and/or solutions to share?

TX!!
