Midi newb seeks advice.

Hey guys. Help.

I have a song in Sonar that I'm trying to add drums to. The song has about 8 tracks of audio, I used a drum loop as a guide tempo, the audio in the song lines up perfectly to the measures in Sonar.

I hooked up a keyboard to the midi in on my Delta 1010 and played the drum beat I want by hand on the keyboard, listening to the built in drum sounds on the keyboard. When I play back the new midi drum track through the drum plug-in built into Sonar the timing is bad. Even soloed, it sounds off-beat.

I'm really a newb at midi, what am I doing wrong here?

I would prefer to use the Session drummer, but I'm still learning it.

Sounds like it could be latency. What is your latency setting in Sonar?

Even so, you should be able to slide it into alignment, as it should be "consistenly" off by the same time increment.

Other than that, you need to get your latency down to under 10ms (preferably under 5ms).

Even when I solo the track it sounds off. Not at all like what I played. If it were simply a matter of lining it up I would do that, but it has lost all the feel it had.
