I remember reading somewhere that one should use 'midi' cables instead of standard DIN cables.
I wonder what difference it makes. As far as I know Midi just uses 2 pins less. So why not use standard DIN cables? Do standard DIN cables cause latency? Do the remaining 2 pins cause problems?
Or are there any other objections? I have not had any problems using DIN cables I had lying around instead of dedicated midi cables, but I am going to work with midi more and more in the (near) future and this will involve synchronizing my recorder (Fostex FD-8) to sequencing software... So I might run into some problems yet.
