Micing a Marshal AVT50

My band has plenty of live sound equipment, but now we need some mics for recording.

I'm planning on getting a Marshall AVT50 guitar amp in the next few months, and wanted to know... what mics should I use with it and how many? It's just a 50 watt amp with a single 12" celestion. It also has a 1/4" simulated DI output... I'm thinking about using mic(s) and the DI for recording and mixing it.

Also, what's the best way to mic up an 8x10 ampeg cab for my bassist? I'm thinking at least one mic close up pointed at one of the 10" drivers and maybe another a few feet away to get the whole thing. What mics are good for that?

Any responses or comments would be appreciated.

By the way, I'm planning on getting a pair of matched MXL 603s for overhead drum mics, so if those can serve two purposes, that'd be nice. We already have 2 SM-57s also.
