Mic applications...

I just purchased the Antares Mic Modeler and I must say it has a LOT of mics to choose from. However, my knowledge of which mic is best for vocals or guitar or saxaphone etc. is limited. I understand I must research and experiment to find my own favorites but I need some info to get started. Any websites or books out there that could help?
My main interest would be Vocal and Acou. guitar apps. Thanks!

I've got great result from both a Shure SM58 and Rode NT1 when using the AKG C12 simulation.. Tube drive at around 4-5, play around with proximity. It probably doesn't sound anything like a real AKG C12, but hell it sounds good.
