Looking to cop some raw soul sounds. Stax, Meters, James Brown, you know what I mean. I can cop some convincingly old vocal sounds with an M-Audio Luna, but I'm looking for something that would work well for electric guitars. A ribbon might be nice for that. As for preamps, I'm looking at the Groovetubes Brick and the Universal Audio Solo 610 Tube Preamp. What are your thoughts on these options?

Hi. I'm interested in the M-Audio Luna myself. How would you describe it's tone? Have you compared it against any other mics?

the UA 610 coupled with a ribbon mic would be a chain that i would definitely consider capable of producing an old-school sound...
