Metronome in cubase 5 cant hear it???

I just re-installed Cubase 5 on my laptop I am using a Tascam US 1641 and when I try to record with a precount my levals for a metronome shows up I just dont hear it. I can go to the Metranome set up and choose my Tascam and nothing. Then if I click another option I have sound coming out my laptop the clicks With Microsoft GS Wavetable SW. I am going crazy here this stuff worked before with no hastle I hve looked everywhere to try to fix this does any one know what is going on I would appreciate any help thanks...
 
yeah I went straight to the site I will go again. I never had so much trouble with Cubase ever I have been using this for 2 years.
