Memory Question....

If my laptop has DDR2 memory in it am i able to uprade to a better, faster, more current memory stick.

Like DDR3 ?

What about processors? Like, am i able to put a new processor in a laptop?

Often you can, yeah, but it totally depends on the laptop model.
It may already be at its max spec.

What have you got?

Um it is an older HP. HP8000ZD

It windows XP media centre edition. SP3. i have 1.5 in it now. I'd like to have 2GB. ??? Thoughts?

2 gig is fine.

"Memory Type: DDR2 PC2-5300, DDR2 (non-ECC)
Maximum Memory: 2GB
Slots: 2
Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot."

As far as i can see, 5300 is the fastest it'll take.

We don't know what's in it at the minute though. It could be 3200 or something.

I think crucial do a system scanner that will tell you if you're not sure.

BTW, the info above is from some memory upgrade site.
It's probably correct, but there's always room for error.

Bummer. MCE is awful, and from my own experience, maybe .0001% of any recording gear works on MCE.
You can try PC6400, which is purported to be a doable swap for faster speed, and possibly run a bit cooler at the slower clockspeed due to higher quality etching and/or larger chip die sizes for the PC6400.
