Did anyone else catch the March Modern Drummer review of the Shure Performance Gear series? It was said that the PG52 (the cheaper version of the Beta52) held it's own when placed right alongside a D112. The D112 had a little bit of a lower fundamental, but both were equally deep and punchy. I own the Beta56's for toms and am satisfied with what they provide (mostly just used for attack).
Anyone looking for a good low cost kick mic may want to give the PG52 at least a test run. I'm thinking of picking one up just to "have around".
