MBOX 2 help Please

Hello Guys And Gals
ive just got rid of my trusty wee Fostex MR8 Recorder
and bought the MBOX2 Factory Bundle.
What i would like to know is if i can load it on up to my C drive on the pc,,
and use the enormous empty F drive(called Data on mine)
to save whatever i do on it?
i ask because it says in the MBOX 2 manual that
"although it can be used on a system drive,it is not recommended"
so i dunno if im wasting my time installing it now,,or if i would actually have to buy an external drive to install the whole thing on?
also please bear in mind that i really have no experience of this machine,,
or indeed computer recording of any kind.
or in other words,,i have no idea what im talking about!

i have now had the thing lying unopened for about 6 weeks,,
and im itching to get started trying to figure out what its all about!
thank you in advance for any help you can offer me;-)
Cheers

What's up Monsterpop? Here's the skinny....while it is recommended to save all of your Protools to a seperate hard drive (not seperate partition, but actually second hard drive) its not a necessity. Its an ideal situation to do it for the efficiency of the machine, but its not going to keep you from recording without it.

I use a laptop with my Protools stuff and I only have the one internal hard drive right now. It works with no problems what so ever.

That being said, I do intend on getting an exteral firewire drive at some point in the future.

hey mate
thank you for the reply;-) i was beginning to think i had the pox or sumthin;-)
well thats all sounds hunky dory then! SO i can happily install all the software from the MBOX to the C drive, and save all my stuff to the F drive after all huh?

id been wondering why my PC seemed to be telling me it was gettin kinda full,,
til i realised i had that F drive with 150GB,,and completely unused!

would it be bad to load the MBOX software to the Fdrive also?

i shall make an attempt at getting it all loaded up today then.
so you can expect me back here on the forum with the most ridiculous idiots questions VERY soon mate. i really am a total beginner with this stuff;-)

thanks again ;)

Put your programs (Protools, plugins, etc) on your C drive.

Use your F drive for the creating your session folders.

And you may want to mosy on over to www.protoolsforum.com and sign up to post there.

Good luck,
