Master buss

Hi,

I have been mixing for about a year now and on my master buss/stereo mix

usually just end up cutting some low frequncies, no compression. Once I mix

otb with my folcrom was considering buying an ssl stereo compressor and

adding it in the signal chain before i go back to my DAW. I know some people

use compression , some don't and some people use slight eq as well.

My question is what kind of settings do you find yourself using for the comp

and eq? Any standard settings you find youself going to that sounds good

like 2:1 , -9 threshold fast or slow release times or boosting around 15k

Thanks

All that fancy, expensive gear and you're still looking for presets?

I wish I owned that gear but I don't . Just wishful thinking for now if anything

I would just experiment with the recommended settings inside Logic for now.

looks like you just answered your own question

know what you're trying to accomplish before processing your sound. Only compress if you KNOW it needs it...not because you can.

presets/recommended settings in general are BS

don't get me wrong, if i'm slapping a reverb plug or something onto a track, i'll usually go through the preset list and find the one that sounds closest to what i'm looking for, then tweak it until it's right...but don't ever ever EVER apply a certain preset because its name matches the source(e.g. eq'ing an acoustic guitar simply by picking the "ac. gtr." preset)
