Magnetical shielding?

If a person has no choice but to resort to useing bookshelf speakers as monitors, why is it neccesary that they are magnetically shielded?

To avoid sterilization.

And it also helps if you put your speakers too close to a computer monitor. Unshielded speakers will cause the picture to distort and turn purple on the edges.

Why, that's when your sperm is no longer capable of impregnating a woman. But since you're a dad already, maybe it wouldn't be a big deal.

He was kidding, by the way.

Like Texroadkill said regular bookshelf speakers will mess with your computer monitor if they are too close to it, because of the speaker magnets. Some studio monitor speakers have magnetic shielding built in so that you can place the speakers right next to your computer monitor. Now, if you have your bookshelf speakers far enough away from your monitor (a couple feet or more) you don't have to worry about it.

Hope that helps
