Mac with two OS?

Hey:

I am about to purchase a new Mac to upgrade my recording stuff from a VS880 to using ProTools Free and maybe Cubase. I like the on-screen editing more than the VS880 for my radio vocal work stuff.

I would also like this Mac (probably an eMac) to run iMovie so the family (mostly 12 year old son) can also do digital video. But I know that ProTools Free (and maybe Cubase for all I know) is Mac OS 9, and won't work with OSX. And it's the other way around for iMovies, which wont' work in OS 9.

Are things going to be gummed up by switching the OS back and forth once a week or so in order to run both programs? And for that matter - will I run into problems trying to run both programs on the same computer, OS differences aside? I won't be doing any internet or word processing or games - this will be a dedicated computer. I don't want to risk frequent crashes.

Thanks in advance.
Carlos
