Mac Laptop recomendations...

I plan on using a digi002R and an Apogee Rosetta 800 (already have both) for my interface with Pro Tools version probably no higher than 8.

I dont plan on going 'plugin crazy' but just basic stuff. Maybe a guitar amp simulator and a synth emulation here and there but nothing too major.

I would also need a screen no smaller than 15 inches. I need it to be portable so it has to be a laptop.

I thought about going the new route for $1800 or more but I am also interested in the used Ebay market for one a year or two older laptop for a good savings.

Yeah, you shouldn't have any problems with a used laptop as long as it's in good condition and has a fresh install of the latest OS on it. I'd go for a MacBook Pro... I'm pretty sure all of the recent versions of the MBP have been fine, although you might want to do some RAM upgrades if you're going to be using it for recording.
