Hi all,

I have a couple pieces of gear that I need to get rid of.

2) M-Audio MobilPre USB

What are your thoughts on the MobilePre?

I have a client who is considering one for her voice-over needs. She does hypnotherapy and builds custom CDs with the subliminal stuff playing beneath the voice-over suggestions.

I figured the MobilePre with the bundled 4-track software would be sufficient for her needs.

It should work perfect for that. It's 16 bit so I wouldn't think of it as hi-end but for voice-overs that don't require a ton of processing it should do fine.

i had one for a brief amount of time. the preamps were clean/clear, but not "stunning" by any means--not a lot of depth, but weren't noisy, etc. the 16bit annoyed me (as it was a step back from the 24bit interfaces that were already out), and worse was the fact that the M-Audio drivers would cause BSOD's on my Win2000 Pro Dell laptop.

M-Audio's tech support was less than helpful, even when I'd debugged the memory.dmp files and gave them the debug readouts pointing directly to their driver as the cause.

It's been a couple years, so hopefully the drivers are more stable by now. :D


all of that aside, i'm sure it'd work for what she's looking for.
