m-audio pci card users: a question/poll

Seein' as how I'm new to using an m-audio card (i just installed an audiophile 192) and the manual is NO HELP in this area...

What codec sample rate do you use?

And what DMA buffer size?

Also, why did you pick the numbers you did? I know that the higher the codec sample rate (supposedly) the better. But I have no idea what's best for DMA buffer size. I don't even know what it does, or if it's better to be lower or higher.

As it is, 192 is a bit excessive. The most anyone really uses at this point in time is 88 or 96khz, @ 24 bit, as that is the DVD audio standard.

What are you recording for? This could help us determine what sample rate you should record at.
