M Audio or Tapco powered nearfields

Hey Folks,
Anyone have any experience with the 8" M audio or Tapco powered monitors?
I am looking for monitors that translate well (without spending ridiculous $$$).
I demo-ed the KRK6 and 4 and the M Audio 5 but wasn't very impressed with the tonal balance....

My advice, forget both of those and get a pair of Event TR-8's for about $500.

I haven't tried the 8As, but I have a pair of the 8s. They translate the mix pretty well. A little sloppy in the bass, but not horribly so. IMHO, a little overbright (not tinny, bright) even with the high end at the most rolled off setting. They work well, though, once you get used to them.
