Hi, i bought the m-audio 1010lt recently and its been working fine, except i only got around to buying the adapters for channels 1 + 2 ( XLR ) a few days ago and the signal its taking in is MASSIVE. Everything is distorted and crazy. Even with the gain all the way down on the desk whatever is being sent to channels 1 + 2 into the XLR connections on the soundcard is to distorted to use. Ive tried changing the Jumpers on the card but it didnt seem to work. Anyone any ideas?
i think theres a pre amp built into Channels 1 + 2 on the card too

Those 2 channels got preamps on 'em for mics, hence your distortion.
I thought you figured that out when I read the last sentence of your post!:)
I don't know that you can switch those two inputs to line level, as I've never had need to (or tried), maybe the manual will tell you. I don't recall seeing an option for this in the control panel, so if there's a chance, it exists within a switch on the card itself.

According to the 1010lt product literature:
"Two inputs even have mic/line preamps on XLR connectors, saving the expense of outboard preamps..."

Aye i set the jumpers to line level, but its still too much, its not as bad as mic level though. i see another Jumper Config thats an alernate to Line level so ill try that. I run a desk into the sound card and its easier to just have everything hooked up through that cause im using a multi core into the next room. otherwise id have to buy seriously long cables to go straight into the card.
