low volume level on cubase

The input level is very weak when I try to record and when I play back the music the volume is very weak as well. Could anyone tell me what could be the problem? I've checked the volume level on my soundcard (DMAN 2044) and its on the maximum level.

Not familiar with the 2044. I assume you have some sort of metering when recording so you can get a good signal to hard disk? If you have a strong signal at that stage (-5 to -1dB)the problem isn't there. Within Cubase, the fader for the track you recorded on is 3/4 of the way up or so. Also, check under the tabs Audio, Master, make sure those stereo faders didn't get pulled down somehow.

All I can think of for now.
